Back-to-School Tutoring Tips to Help Ease Your Child Into the New School Year

When mentioning back-to-school parents tend to sigh and students tend to whine. However, going back to school does not necessarily mean that students should stop having exciting learning adventures . Today we want to talk about why it is important to continue with tutoring even after the summer and how this along with other after-school programs can help your child learn in a more interactive way.

Tutoring and Other Ways to Continue the Fun Even After Summer Vacation is Over

Now that the summer is almost over it is time to start using all the new and previously acquired knowledge your child has attained. It can be overwhelming to return to school and be introduced to new concepts, but with the right help students can greatly progress as they advance in every grade. Students that spent the summer learning and growing academically will have a much better chance at a successful school year. Encourage your child to continue to learn in fun ways once school starts. Joining a science club, trying out for a sports team, and enrolling in other after-school educational activities such as tutoring are all great ways to continue learning while having fun.

The Many Benefits of Tutoring Will Help Your Child Year- Round

In a previous post we discussed the importance of avoiding a summer learning loss and mentioned how all kinds of summer programs encourage students to enjoy learning. Well, this doesn't have to end when school starts. Tutoring programs are offered year round and provide students with the help to better understand new subjects. A complete tutoring program also offers support with study skills and homework completion. Let your child benefit from the most efficient and beneficial tutoring program in Parsippany NJ. Other Ways to Help Your Child Prepare for a Successful School Year

  • Set a bedtime. The transition from summer vacation to the new school year can be hard for both parents and students. One of the biggest factors is the change in routines and schedules. To ease into the school year routine you should try to start weeks or at least a few days before school starts. Gradually set up your alarm clock 15min earlier every night until you reach the time that you will need to wake up at once school starts. This also means that for every 15min earlier that you wake up you will need to go to bed 15min earlier at night in order to get a full night's rest.
  • Get your child in the habit of preparing their stuff the night before. If over the summer your child has gotten into the habit of just falling asleep at any time without having a routine, you should start by making slight modifications. One way to do this is to make sure that your has their clothes ready for the next day the night before. If there are still a few days before school starts, have them practice remembering where their backpack is and checking to make sure they have packed at least the basic school supplies, like a pencil, pens, eraser, and a notebook. This will get them into the habit of checking their backpack every night before going to bed. Once school starts it will be easier for them to remember to check for the things their backpack should have, such as their homework, books, and school supplies.
  • Teach them how to deal with academic struggles. Once the school year starts, your child will have to face certain academic struggles. For more information on how to better prepare your child for this, read our previous post here.
